Point to Ponder...

Hey Y'all... See today's snap? Do you find something different here? Same mountains, but one's covered with snow and the other's not!!! Huh, that's something interesting... Can you think why? Let me give you a hint; this place is in the Lassen Volcanic National Park... Still cannot guess??? Well, it's still a active volcano below, so that part of the place is kinda warm and the snow does not hold up there... If you see carefully, you can also see a small creek in between the two regions...

Anyways, last day of the year today, so let's leave the old stuff behind and start everything new and fresh.

Wish you all a very Happy, Healthy, Wealthy, Successful, Joyous and Prosperous New Year 2007!!!

Chilly... ( ...as in cold)

Clouds coming and going with some fresh snow coming along... looks so great...

Merry Christmas

Hey Guys & Gals, won't be posting tomorrow, so, here's a wish for a Merry Christmas to all of you. May all your wishes come true this Christmas.

California Golden Poppy

These are the wild-flowers that grow on the levy by the river here in the months of March/April. Tried to get a different view angle here, but was not completely successful at what I was trying, but it's pretty close. :)
BTW, these are CALIFORNIA GOLDEN POPPIES (Scientific Name: Eschscholtzia californica). Once again, thanks to my dear.

Ladybird Beetle Bug

A Ladybird Beetle Bug in the green grass. Well guys and gals, I must tell you this that these (professional ;)) photos are taken by Kodak CX 6445 camera which is a pretty simple one... pretty soon, you'll be seeing more high quality pictures when I'll have my Digital SLR :))

Spring - fresh and new...

Spring season... all flowers blooming around. Everything feels new and fresh. While taking a walk one fine spring morning, I got a chance to capture this. These are Crabapple Blossoms. Look pretty.

I had sent this picture to Sacramento's local news channel - KCRA3 and it was shown on "News at 10". I was so happy to see my snap on TV :)

Let It Snow

Have you heard of the song "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow" sung by Dean Martin? Reminds me of my friend who, all of a sudden, has gone crazy for this song. Is it kinda magical? Try listening to it. But then, the effects of that are escalated when the weather is something seen here... I'm posting the lyrics here, but you have to listen to the song to get that feeling...

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

It doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've bought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

When we finally kiss good night
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm

The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

I couldn't get a better angle to remove that foreground, but here I was really concentrating on the sunset... not bad!!! What do you say?

American River

The American River... as seen from the Guy West Bridge of California State University, Sacramento. There's nothing unusual about this snap, but or some reason I just like it...

Praying Mantis

Well, once we had this guest at our Apt. He was very patient kind of a person (did I say person?)... well, he was a priest... always kept praying... Look for yourself... hence his name PRAYING MANTIS.

FACT: There are nearly 2,000 species of praying mantis widely distributed throughout tropical, subtropical, and warm climate area of the world. They are found in a variety of habitats including deserts, meadows, and savannas all through the warmer parts of the world, especially in the humid tropical rain-forest, where the majority of species occur.

My sister's flowers

Looking good, eh? Both these were taken at my sister's place in Houston... No, these are not copied from somewhere, I have taken them myself... even I click some good snaps sometimes :D

Above is... (Scientific name: ...) and this one is Hibiscus (Scientific name: Hibiscus rosa-sinensis)

CA Hwy1

California Hwy 1... running along the pacific coastline... it's really a scenic highway. If you ask where it is in this picture, then, look carefully, it's the bridge that you see in between the 2 mountains which is Hwy 1.

On the rocks...

I literally had to wait for the moment when the wave comes and hits the rocks... not that impressive, but then, i came to know that how professionals have to be patient to get on good snap... my friends had already started shouting on me since I was taking too much time for one shot :)
